How to play
If you’ve played a classic point-and-click adventure, you already know. If you haven’t, it takes a minute.
The basics.
You play Elias Wick on the island of Morrow’s End. The first aim is simple: get into the lighthouse and light it. Everything else is working out how, by exploring, talking to people and using things on other things.
Controls
- Click the scene
- Walk Elias to that spot.
- Verb panel
- Pick a verb, then click what you want to do it to. For example: Look at, then the door.
- Inventory
- Things you pick up appear in the panel. To use one, choose Use, then the item, then the target.
- Conversations
- Click a choice, or press 1 to 5.
- Escape
- Open the menu to save, load, or change music and full screen.
- Saving
- Three save slots, plus an autosave each time you arrive in a room.
The verbs.
The panel along the bottom of the screen has nine verbs: Look at, Use, Talk to, Pick up, Open, Close, Give, Push and Pull.
Most things respond to more than one. Looking at something is always safe, and it often tells you what to try next.
If you get stuck.
- Look at everything, including things you’ve already looked at.
- Try your items on people as well as objects.
- Go back and talk to people again after something has changed.
- Read what Elias says. The jokes sometimes hide a hint.
Your saves.
Saves are kept in your browser, on your own device. There are three slots, plus an autosave each time you arrive in a room. Clearing your browser’s site data for this site will also clear your saves.
